Dear Ones,

It has been a while since I last wrote, and for that I apologize.  How is everyone doing?  This has been a difficult, weird, trying time.  Lives lost, unspeakable pain, suffering.  I am grateful, along with the rest of the world, for the dedication, the passion, the commitment and tireless energy of all who have helped, all who have worked to keep things running, and who have been active on the front lines.

Much has been asked of us, we have been called to be the best of ourselves.  We’ve been asked to be apart from our families and our friends, to respect distances, but remain connected.  We’ve been asked to live in close quarters, some of us through domestic difficulties and abuse, some of us through loneliness, anxiety and fear.  We’ve been asked to continue hoping, while some of us have had to mourn loved ones from afar.  We’ve been asked to stay calm, be strong, be patient.

It has been an exercise in restraint as well as in emotional strength, and in the midst of it all, kids have drawn rainbows, entire cities have applauded their healthcare workers and first responders, teachers have taught students remotely, doctors have had virtual visits with their patients.  We’ve held Zoom business meetings, Zoom yoga classes, Zoom support gatherings and workshops, and Zoom happy hours.  Couples have danced on balconies, neighbors have sung opera from their apartment windows, good Samaritans have brought groceries to the elderly, and we’ve even had online prayer services.  We are nothing if not resourceful, and no doubt about it, we are pretty amazing.  The best of us mirrors the beauty within us, and the beauty of the human spirit has been abundantly present during this time.  There is profound beauty and emotion in our shared vulnerability, in our need for human connection and hope.  We must never forget the level of beauty that showed up during this time, for it has been a testament to our immense potential.

As we tentatively prepare to venture outside the confines of this pandemic, I wonder, are we ready?  Is it time?  These have been challenging days at best, but they have also been important days, in many ways.  We’ve witnessed an unprecedented opportunity for growth on multiple spiritual, social, humanitarian, political and environmental levels.  Has Mother Earth had the full extent of the break she so desperately needed and so unapologetically claimed?  Has she had enough time to recover from the stress and strain of ceaseless human interference and exploitation?  The waters of the Venetian canals run clear for the first time in 60 years, the Himalayas are visible again from urban centers in India, the skies over China are free of pollution.  There have been numerable positive turns, from the standpoint of natural reparation and recovery.  And what about our spirit?  Have we had enough time to reflect, to go inward, to purify?  Have we taken the time to examine our conscience, accept responsibility for the state of the world, set new intentions?  Many of us have felt the beginning of an energetic shift in human consciousness during this time.  We are undergoing significant spiritual transformation and growth.  Has it gained enough momentum to stay the course?  If we are to start our engines up again soon then I pray the answer to these questions is yes.  I pray that a new and kinder consciousness has indeed started to germinate within us, nourished by the energy of Spring, of hope, renewal, and survival.  In the big picture, the timing of this pandemic might not have been coincidental:  Lent, Passover, Easter -periods that lend themselves to introspection, insight, humility;  that point to ultimate resurrection.  The symbolism is worth noting.

Hopefully, we learned the lessons we were asked to learn. Let it not have all been in vain. We’ve been invited to upgrade our moral and ethical standards. It would be so easy to return to our old ways, but instead, we can rise to the challenge, and commit to making this world what we have been shown it can be.
We have the beauty and strength within us to make it so.

Beauty is defined by what we have in our hearts and are able to offer the world.  It is where our true power originates, it is where everything and anything is possible.  It is defined by qualities such as having HEART, SPIRIT, COMPASSION, KINDNESS, RESPECT, STRENGTH, MERCY, UNITY, DIGNITY, CONNECTION, AWARENESS, COURAGE, RESILIENCE, GRATITUDE, FOCUS, INTENTION, LOVE…
& so many more.  Think of some, and pass them on.

So this is my prayer:  you are free to contribute, edit, delete, alter, as you see fit.  But I hope it resonates, even if just a little.

With love,

Roberta xx.

May we be kinder.  May we be more caring, less selfish, and less self-centered.
May we honour the Earth, the environment, each other, all of life.  May we have understood the true meaning of patience, respect, and reverence;
health, wellbeing,
brotherhood and sisterhood.
May we have been inspired by the beauty of the human spirit.
May we have been restored, may we have been humbled.
And may we remain so.
