NB~ The long version of the Beauty Remastered Manifesto will be available in the coming months. Please stay tuned.
The official First Act of the global, cultural, intellectual, socio-political female movement we are witnessing today, started almost 200 years ago. Some historians would say that the Women’s Rights Convention of 1848 was when things kicked into gear. But of course we can’t deny the influence of women like Queen Elizabeth I, Olympe de Gouges, and Mary Wolstonecraft, for instance.
So many women inspired us, activated us, we’ve been hooked to this wagon for quite some time now. The 20th century is when things really gained momentum, women threw out their corsets, won the right to vote, kept economies going during the wars, and started wearing pants. All this while advancing Chanel couture, cinching their waists in Dior dresses, shortening their skirts, and wearing 6-inch heels by Louboutin.
Today, there’s a very powerful and transformative Second Act unfolding before us. It’s time to finish what we started.
The incontestable truth of who we are as women, of what we have to offer and contribute to the world, and what we rightfully deserve, can no longer be conveniently ignored or denied. Women (and to be clear, throughout this essay, when I say women I mean womxn, a powerful, global collective of inspired, conscious women of every race, nationality, religion, age, and sexual orientation) are being called to wake up, show up, speak up, rise up. We are being called to reclaim our power and our cosmic role in the world. We are being urged to heed the incessant stirring in our souls, the irrepressible impulse to re-activate, to be silent no more, to be undervalued no more, to be ignored, dismissed, blamed, abused, under-represented and/or undereducated no more. We are no longer willing to stand by and let the world suffer, lose its way. We are no longer willing to put up with inequities of any kind, with an irrelevant patriarchy that supports gender bias and discrimination, chauvinism, misogyny, sexism. We are no longer willing to lend our ears to disempowering narratives. Within us lives a strong, unwavering spirit, an undeniable energy, and our courage, our passions, our values, our voices, our truths, are emboldened by our collective strength and solidarity and our yearning for real, lasting change.
Today we gift ourselves a powerful and transformative opportunity, to rewrite our female narrative and reclaim our space and significance in the world~
Today our focus shifts~
Today we tear down outdated paradigms and we step proudly into our personal and collective spotlight. We redefine the term ‘woman’ and we redefine the term ‘beauty’, breathing new life, new meaning into them both. We are strong, capable, brave, and so motivated. We are lightworkers, change-makers, visionaries, revolutionaries, creators, – and we are a sisters, comprising an amazing sisterhood of women on a mission.
That’s what it means to us, today, to be empowered, and to be beautiful.
Beauty Remastered is a beauty revolution on an innermost level.
